A Little About Me

I've Been Painting Since I Was Seven.

Growing up, helping my parents renovate homes was just part of life.

Dad was an electrician, Mum loved interiors, and there was usually a house being worked on or another property they wanted to look at.

One of my earliest memories is helping paint a fence with a paintbrush that felt bigger than my hand.

So when people ask where my obsession with homes came from, I think I was probably always going to end up here. 😂

Painting was one of the first skills I learned, and it's something I've used in pretty much every home I've worked on since.

Because it gives you so many options.

You can make a bedroom feel warm and cosy, give a tired kitchen a completely different look or turn an old piece of furniture into something you actually love.

And that's the part I want more women to understand. There might be so much potential in your home already, before you spend money replacing anything.

Let me show you what I mean.

The $500 Kitchen

This Kitchen Makeover Cost $500. And I Did It With Paint.

I worked with the kitchen that was already there.

The cabinets, the surfaces, the things you might look at and immediately think you'd need to replace.

And I used paint to change how it all looked together.

Jade's $500 kitchen, before and after paintingThe $500 kitchen. Done with paint.

This is why I get so excited about teaching women how to paint.

A new kitchen might be completely out of your budget right now. But learning how to make the most of the one you have? That could be a very different conversation.

Of course, paint won't solve a layout that doesn't work or give you extra storage. But if it's the colours and finishes you don't like, it's worth finding out what you could change.

I include this whole makeover inside the course, so you can follow what I did, step by step.

And if you're thinking, "That looks great, Jade, but I'd probably make a mess of it," let's talk about that.

Sound Familiar?

"I Tried Painting Once. It Didn't Look Anything Like That."

Okay, but did somebody actually teach you how to do it?

Or did you buy a tin of paint and a roller, have a go and hope for the best?

Because there are things you need to know that aren't necessarily obvious when you're standing in the paint aisle.

Which roller do you need? Does the surface need primer? How much preparation is enough? And how do you paint along the ceiling without getting it everywhere?

If nobody has explained those things, it makes sense that you might struggle with them.

It doesn't mean you can't learn.

That's what I do inside House Painting Queens. I break it down and explain how to approach the job, from getting the surface ready to applying the paint.

And I explain what can go wrong too, because I've had plenty of opportunities to learn about that part myself.

A Little Story

Like The Time I Painted Furniture On A Freezing Winter Night...

I was working on a furniture makeover for a brand and needed to get it finished.

So I decided I'd spray the first coat that night, leave it to dry and do the second coat in the morning.

The first coat went on beautifully. I packed everything up and went inside feeling pretty pleased with myself.

Then I checked it the next morning.

The paint hadn't dried properly in the cold, and it had started running down the sides.

So the job I thought I was getting ahead on now needed stripping back and doing again. Not quite the time-saving plan I'd had in mind. 🤦‍♀️

I ended up moving it inside near the wood fire and painting it with a brush and roller to get it finished.

And I haven't forgotten that lesson.

Because it's exactly the same when you're painting your home. If you paint your walls when it's too cold, the paint won't dry the way it should. And the same thing that happened to my piece of furniture can happen on your walls, with drips and runs you then have to fix.

That's the sort of experience I bring into this course. The techniques, the preparation and the things you need to check before you start, so you can give yourself the best chance of getting a result you're happy with.

Step By Step

So, How Do I Help You Get From The Idea To The Finished Room?

01First

We Work Out The Colours And Finishes

You might want a calm bedroom, a warmer living room or a kitchen that feels completely different. I help you understand undertones, finishes and how to choose colours that work together in your home.

02Then

We Get You Prepared

What do you need to buy? What needs cleaning, patching or sanding? Does that surface need a particular primer?

We work through it so you know what needs doing before you open the paint.

03Then

I Show You The Painting

How to hold and use your brush, cut in around edges, load your roller and apply the paint.

You can watch me do it, pause the video and go back over anything you need to see again.

04And

We Cover Much More Than Walls

Ceilings, doors, skirting, cabinets, tiles, brick, render and fences all need their own approach.

I explain those differences so you can look at something in your home and have a better understanding of what's involved in changing it.

Can I Show You The Message Katie Sent Me?

★★★★★

It was 10pm on a Sunday when Katie sent me photos of her bathroom. Her message started:

"Ok so I'm definitely not a painter and it looks bad close up but I did this."

And I looked at the photos thinking, Katie, look at what you've just done!

Katie's message to Jade with her bathroom before and after

She'd completely changed the look of her bathroom herself, and she was telling me she wasn't a painter.

I told her it looked amazing and that she should be incredibly proud. And then I told her, "Katie, you ARE a painter."

I think so many of us do this. We finish something and immediately start pointing out the little bits we're not happy with.

But she'd learned something, had a go and made her bathroom look completely different. That's a pretty great achievement.

And I'd love to help you have your own version of that moment.

Start Small

Start With The Room You Keep Thinking About.

You don't need to commit to painting your whole house.

Maybe you just want your bedroom to feel beautiful and calm, somewhere you actually want to curl up at the end of the day.

Maybe you're tired of looking at the same kitchen cabinets. Or you'd love to add some colour, but you've never felt confident enough to try.

Start there.

Learn what's involved, choose your colours and work through that one space.

You can make a lovely change to your home without turning it into an enormous renovation project.

And once you know how to paint, you've got that skill for the next idea too.

Got Questions?

A Few Things You Might Be Wondering.

Do I need any painting experience?

No. I made this for beginners. We start with the preparation, products and tools, then work through the techniques step by step.

What if I've painted before and wasn't happy with it?

You can work through the lessons and compare them with what you did last time. Sometimes it's the preparation, sometimes the product or application technique. I explain common problems and how to approach fixing them, so you can understand what to do differently.

How long do I have access?

The course is yours to keep. You can rewatch the lessons whenever you need them, including when you're ready to tackle another room or a different surface.

How long does it take?

You can work through it at your own pace. There's no deadline. Watch the lessons around your schedule and give yourself the time you need to prepare and practise.

Is it worth joining if I only want to paint one room?

You can absolutely use it for one room. Learning to do the work yourself could save you the cost of hiring someone for that job. You'll also have the lessons to come back to if you decide to paint anything else later. Paint, materials and equipment are separate from the course price.

Does it cover kitchens, bathrooms and tiles?

Yes. I cover the products, preparation and application methods for those surfaces, including cabinets and tiles. You also get the Kitchen, Bathroom & Tiles Blueprint and both bonus kitchen makeover tutorials.

What about outside the house?

There's an exterior painting module covering brick, render, fences and outdoor surfaces, along with an Exterior Painting Blueprint.

Will I need to buy lots of equipment?

You don't need to buy everything before watching the course. I explain what the tools are for and what you'll need for different jobs, so you can shop for the project you're doing. There's a shopping list included too.

What if I need to watch a technique again?

Then watch it again! Pause, rewind and come back as often as you need. You don't have to learn everything in one sitting.

Your Turn

Ready To See What A Little Paint Could Do In Your Home?

You don't have to keep saving the ideas and wondering whether you could do them.

Come and learn with me.

I'll take you through the preparation, the products and the painting, so you can understand what you're doing and start making those changes yourself.
